very good signs

On Saturday we had some friends over to celebrate Jamie's birthday that was on Wednesday last week. I made a ridiculous amount of chili and Becca helped me make three pumpkin pies from scratch. Never baked a pumpkin pie without using the canned stuff? Now's the time 'cause you're totally missing out. ;)

Later in the day there was a double rainbow, brighter than we'd ever seen. Then I found our lost rose quartz crystal in the backyard. We got it on our honeymoon and swirled it in the cool spring water. Jamie misplaced it months ago. We're glad to have it back.

More of Jamie's friends came over that night, bringing with them enough speakers to build what was proudly named Speaker Mountain. We fumbled around setting them up just so, placed a disc in each of the four, and pressed play simultaneously. It was Zaireeka, a four-disc album that Jamie's owned for years but never coordinated a proper environment to experience it. If you enjoy things like cymatics and literally being able to feel the cells that make up your body shape-shift based on the crazy sounds emitting from speakers, go for it. It was awesome, to say the least...

And now I'm painting. I'm on a creative upswing over here, and it feels so good. Oh, and I'm reading The Secret Life of Plants. It's SO fascinating.
