plied alpaca and pokeberry wool yarn

Plying is just so satisfying. I made this yarn by alternating Abraham's fawn colored fiber and a mystery wool (oops! not sure which of our sheep!) that was died with Pokeberries. After plying, I realize this would make such a pretty sweater or blanket. It's not uniform in color. I didn't measure out the lengths as I alternated. Sometimes it's all Pokeberry red, sometimes it's all fawn, and mostly it's twisted around each other like a string of tiny candycanes. I think it's just beautiful. I really do. This is my favorite yarn yet. I can't help but feel proud, but mainly for our animals. Spinning with their wool is satisfying in a way I can only describe as... well... I'm at a lack for words actually. I'm just amazed at how the wiry hair that grows on the backs of these peaceful creatures I've come to love can be transformed into something so lovely and useful. I'm in awe of the first person who discovered that wool could turn into something humans could wear by altering its structure. Genius.
