We have about eight or nine weeks until the first frost, but things are already feeling different around here. The cardinals are back to fattening themselves with seed outside our kitchen window, the pond mists into the cool air each morning, and there's a whole slew of jobs to be done in the kitchen. This week I made sauerkraut... or attempted to. The first time I didn't have a proper crock and it got slimy. Our neighbor loaned us his crock with an airlock lid, so I'm hoping it'll be successful this time around.
To keep myself entertained for hours on end (either at the kitchen table drawing or a the cutting board or washing dishes) I've been watching Victorian Farm. Last winter I really enjoyed Edwardian Farm. For those of you who dream of living an idealistic country life, lacy costumes and all- this is for you.
